What's the difference between mixing and mastering?

Mixing is where we balance all the individual tracks in your song—adjusting levels, EQ, effects, and placement to create a cohesive stereo mix. Mastering comes after mixing and focuses on preparing your final mix for distribution by optimizing overall sound, ensuring consistency across tracks (if mastering an entire project), and meeting technical standards for streaming and physical media.

Should I bring my own instruments to the session?

We have a Yamaha C7 grand piano and keyboards available for use. We do have all of the recording, mixing and mastering equipment needed for any project. Regarding guitars, basses, and other instruments, you'll want to bring what you're comfortable playing—that's when you sound your best anyway.

Absolutely. Our studio is designed to handle everything from solo artists to full bands and large ensembles. We have the space, equipment, and expertise to capture multiple musicians playing together, whether you want everyone tracked separately or recorded live off the floor. That's what makes us different—we're built for everything.

Will an engineer be present during my session?

Accepted Answer

Yes, every session includes a professional audio engineer who will be there from start to finish. You are welcome to bring in your own engineer for the session as well. In those cases, we will still have an engineer present to help assist as needed. Our engineers can handle all the technical aspects—from mic placement and gain staging to tracking and ensuring you get the best possible sound. You focus on the performance, and we'll make sure it's captured perfectly.

Where is Rittenhouse Soundworks located?

We're located in Northwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More specifically the Germantown area. We have free off street parking available nextdoor and indoor parking is available in the studio as well.
